POSITION SUMMARY

Utilizing the nursing process, the Licensed Practical Nurse performs nursing care activities for patients and families under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include both patient care as well as administrative activities. Acts as team leader and appropriately delegate tasks to other team members. Assists with the efficient operation of the unit through multidisciplinary collaboration and facilitation of the patient care plan.

All employees, if applicable, are expected to adhere to the BSHR Automobile Safety Program per policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
2. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Commonwealth of Virginia
3. BCLS certification
4. ACLS certification desired or within 12 months of hire
5. PALS certification desired or within 18 months of hire
6. Basic computer entry skills desired
7. Knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques and patient responses to same
8. Three years med-surg, CCU or ED nursing, ICU or equivalent experience desired
